An accomplished and compassionate horsewoman, Laura Knox has been honing her equestrian skills for more than 30 years, building upon a foundation in classical dressage and a passion for starting and training horses.

Grounded in philosophies learned at an early age, Laura focuses on non-confrontational methods, respect, patience and kindness. Influenced by Buch Brannaman, Monty Roberts and GaWaNi Pony Boy, she also rode with Pam Goodrich, Gunnar Ostergaard and Tom Noone. You are just as likely to catch her riding bareback alone in a field as practicing half-pass in the ring.

At the age of 11, during her fifth year of riding lessons, Laura met Danny, an American Warmblood, who was a mere ten minutes old. It was love at first sight; Danny became her best friend, teacher and confidant for the next 17 years. Together they learned the value of a solid foundation, the importance of groundwork, the magic of the round pen and especially, what it means to love, listen, trust and communicate. As their dressage skills developed, patience and relaxation lead to rhythm and clarity. Balance and connection evolved into progress and consistency.

Laura complements her riding, showing and training skills with an 'Equissage' equine sports massage therapist certification as well as extensive barn management experience throughout New England and the NYC tri-state area. She also volunteered at a therapeutic riding stable, started young eventing prospects and schooled numerous dressage horses.

When Danny passed away suddenly during her final year of graduate studies at The New School in NYC, Laura chose to take a break from horses altogether. After several months traveling the eastern seaboard, she returned to Maine in 2015, settled in Brooklin and realized just how much she missed them.
