Laura has been helping me with my new horse for about a month, coming once a week to ride and assess him so I can observe from the ground. She is an excellent technical rider with a lovely light “feel” and is able to communicate with both horse and rider in a calm, confident manner. My confidence in riding Leonard has grown through this interaction, so important for an older rider trying to work out the quirks on a new mount after twenty years of riding the same horse. I look forward to this weekly “horse time” and build on it throughout the week. I also observed Laura bring along a very traumatized mini-horse. Her patience and timing are a gift she uses well!

Laura was willing to take on the training of a pony we took in. This pony had recieved minimal handling at best and negative handling at worst. Not knowing the history of a horse is very difficult and Laura patiently started from the beginning - trying to fill in the negative holes in Peanut’s life with positive moments. She went from a dangerous little pony to a curious and willing partner; with the help of Laura’s knowledge and patience, Peanut was able to move on to her next chapter with more trust and happiness than she has ever experienced in her short life. “I came home to a barn and stalls that were so darn clean…!”

I recently adopted two elderly rescue horses and I am still learning their individual quirks. Laura took impeccable care of them (and me) for over two weeks while I was vacationing out of state. One of the horses has severe trust issues and I was really worried about her losing ground if someone was just “feeding” her and not interacting with her every day. The other horse became unhealthy a few days before departure. I considered stopping the vacation and I was a nervous wreck leaving them. Laura assured me she was good, she could administer antibiotics, etc! She was very skilled and was able to take wonderful care of them. She also was able to keep me informed with regular updates and pictures which put my mind at ease. I even found out I stopped worrying and was enjoying my vacation! I know now whatever situation presented itself, she has enough equine wisdom to handle it. The best part, I came home to a barn and stalls that were so darn clean, I could not have done such a good job myself! Not having a “vacation” penalty upon the return home to two healthy horses was amazing!!!

They boys and the barn looked well cared for and the stalls were in great shape : ) we had a lovely time and it was easier to be away knowing that you were taking good care of my horses.
